Dr Oliver Seyfried is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia based in London, with particular expertise in assessing and treating sciatica, radicular pain and other spinal and neuropathic pain conditions. He qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School in 1999 and completed specialist anaesthetic and Pain Medicine training at leading London teaching hospitals. He was appointed as a consultant at St George’s Hospital in 2013, where he continues to practise in both Pain Medicine and anaesthesia and has held senior clinical leadership responsibilities. Dr Seyfried is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. In 2026 he was awarded the GMC Credential in Specialist Pain Medicine. His private Pain Medicine practice is based at Fortius Clinic and OneWelbeck. His approach begins with establishing the likely cause of a patient’s pain through careful clinical assessment and review of relevant imaging. He explains the diagnosis and available treatment options clearly. Treatment is individualised and may include rehabilitation, medication, an image-guided pain procedure or onward assessment by a spinal or other surgical specialist. Dr Seyfried treats degenerative spinal pain, sciatica and other forms of nerve pain affecting the arms or legs, as well as selected persistent joint and musculoskeletal pain conditions. His aim is to help patients understand why they are experiencing pain and identify the safest and most proportionate route forward. Professional memberships include the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Faculty of Pain Medicine, Society of Vascular Anaesthesia and Worshipful Society of Apothecaries.
