Dr Noor Bekkali

Dr. Noor Bekkali, Consultant Gastroenterologist | Specialist in Pancreatobiliary Disease & Advanced Endoscopy Dr. Noor Bekkali is a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in pancreatobiliary diseases and advanced endoscopic procedures. Appointed at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford in 2018, she brings over a decade of focused expertise in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), including advanced interventional applications such as cholangioscopy, cystgastrostomies and gallbladder drainage. Dr. Bekkali completed her medical degree and Ph.D. at the University of Amsterdam (AMC) in 2014. She then undertook prestigious fellowships in the UK at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, gaining subspecialist training in pancreatobiliary medicine and therapeutic endoscopy. She continues to hold an honorary Consultat post at UCLH. Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. She has extensive experience in using EUS for tissue sampling in cases of pancreatic cancer, lymphoma, gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST), neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), and oesophageal cancer. She was an early adopter of interventional EUS in the UK, introducing EUS-guided biliary drainage for failed ERCP cases in oxford, coeliac plexus neurolysis for pain relief, , and the management of necrotising pancreatitis including endoscopic necrosectomy and more recently EUS guided gastrojejunostomies and gallbladder drainages. Dr. Bekkali also routinely performs complex ERCP for both malignant (e.g. pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma) and benign conditions (e.g. chronic pancreatitis), as well as cholangioscopy and pancreatoscopy. She is an active contributor to the scientific community, with several publications in peer-reviewed journals and ongoing involvement in national and international clinical trials and guidelines. A committed educator and global thought leader, she regularly teaches on EUS and ERCP courses nationally and around the world and holds memberships in multiple pancreas-focused professional committees.
