Mr Niteen Tapuria is an experienced Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HBP) surgery which is surgery of the Gallbladder, liver, pancreas and bile system. He has performed more than 1000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies for gallstones and is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as bile duct stones , pancreatic cancer, bile duct cancer and diseases of the liver as well as Spleen. However, he is also has a special interest in minimally invasive and open techniques for groin hernia repair and abdominal wall hernia as well . More recently he has developed skills in Robotic surgery and Virtual reality surgery . Graduating with a medical degree from the University of Delhi in 1992, followed by MS in General Surgery from Delhi University, he moved to the UK and began his specialist training here in King's College Hospital, London . His first job as an HBP Specialist Registrar began in the Royal Free and University College London Hospitals in 2011. Since then, he has worked across London at Kings College Hospital as well as The Royal Marsden Hospital before taking up a HPB Consultant post in early 2017 in the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in HBP surgery and liver transplantation at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and Robotics in Italy. His current NHS base is at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Mr Tapuria takes a particular interest in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and robotics. He is a member of Great Britain Hepatobiliary Association and Association of Surgeons of Great Britain.
