This information is provided by Dr Nicholas Fraser.
I qualified as a medical practitioner in 1995 in London following which I served with the military where I started my higher professional training in Anaesthesia. Having seen a lot of musculo-skeletal issues in the forces I already had an interest in pain management which naturally led to an interest in Pain medicine, a branch of Anaesthesia. I was fortunate to get a place in the North West school of Anaesthesia, starting in 2002 until 2007. As part of this I did advanced pain training at Salford and Wythenshawe hospitals. I was appointed as a consultant at Stockport NHS Trust in August 2007. I started private practice in 2008, and have steadily built up links with the neuroscience doctors and now work closely with them. This allows me excellent support and together we are able to offer an excellent service for our patients. Personally, I am married with two children, and have a keen interest in running and motorsport.

Anaesthetics - Pain Medicine
I am a Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in Pain Medicine. My main area of interest is in back pain, and I work with a team of neurosurgeons, spinal surgeons, neuroradiologists, neurology and musculo-skeletal doctors. I am very well supported by committed and first class colleagues who really care about their patients. We are able to cater for all musculo-skeletal problems and access to imaging and expert advice is superb. Procedures undertaken include: Epidural steroid and nerve root blocks injections for radicular pain (pain in an arm or leg from a trapped nerve in the back) Medial branch nerve blocks and denervation treatment for facet joint pain in the neck and low back. Sacro-iliac joint injections and denervation (low back / buttock joint pain) Supra-scapular nerve injections and denervation for shoulder arthritis and frozen shoulder. Cryotherapy is also available for denervation treatment, this is suitable for patients with pacemakers and is less likely to cause a flare up than radiofrequency denervation. Qutenza patch therapy for peripheral neuropathic pain (causes hypersensitivity of the skin). I also undertake other procedures such as peripheral nerve blocks for neuropathic pain.
