Mr Navin Mani is an ENT Consultant in Manchester. His private practice encompasses general adult ENT alongside specialist head and neck, thyroid, salivary gland and sinonasal conditions. A graduate of the University of London, he completed ENT training in Cambridge and Manchester before undertaking a national Interface fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery. Following completion of UK specialist training, he pursued further sub-specialist training as an international fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital in New York, USA. Mr Mani is Clinical Director for ENT – Head & Neck Surgery at Manchester Foundation Trust, leading one of the UK’s largest ENT departments. He has previously served as Clinical Lead for Head & Neck Surgery and as Audit and Governance Lead. Within his NHS practice he has developed a high-volume tertiary and quaternary practice in complex head and neck and skull-base surgery, receiving referrals regionally and nationally. He has particular expertise in open skull-base and craniofacial surgery and is among a small number of UK surgeons regularly undertaking these complex procedures. He is the lead surgical trainer for the regional Head & Neck Surgical Fellowship and remains closely involved in postgraduate surgical education and advanced operative training. During training, Mr Mani spent two years undertaking laboratory-based research, leading to the award of a Doctorate of Medicine in cancer biology. His academic interests are in head and neck oncology, salivary gland malignancy and skull-base disease. He supervises doctoral research in salivary gland cancer, with a particular interest in adenoid cystic carcinoma, and is a member of the research working group for Salivary Gland Cancer UK. He has contributed to UK and international clinical guidelines. Mr Mani is Section Editor for the international Scott-Brown’s Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and has contributed as author to chapters in major specialist and international textbooks on subjects including paraganglioma, sinonasal and orbital disease, craniofacial resection and management of the obstructed airway. He is regularly invited to lecture and teach nationally and internationally and has contributed to meetings of ENT UK, the British Academic Conference in Otolaryngology, the British Society of Skull Base Surgery and the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons. He continues to teach surgical techniques on regional and national head and neck, skull-base, ultrasound and surgical dissection courses. His private practice combines the assessment and treatment of everyday ENT problems with access to extensive specialist experience where more complex investigation or treatment is required.
