Dr Mustafa Rashid

Dr. Mustafa Rashid is a dual board-certified (British and European), award-winning shoulder surgeon with international expertise. He trained at leading UK and global centres, including Oxford, London, Calgary, and Wrightington. He holds a DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford for award-winning research on rotator cuff repair augmentation and is a consultant at Colchester General Hospital, working at the newly built Dame Claire Marx Building. He remains an active researcher and speaker in shoulder surgery and is a member of prestigious professional societies, including the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS), the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow (SECEC) the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). His practice focuses exclusively on relieving pain and restoring shoulder function through both keyhole and reconstructive (joint replacement) surgery. He prioritises non-surgical care where possible and uses the latest proven techniques when surgery is required. Committed to patient education, he ensures clear explanations and works closely with rehabilitation specialists to optimise recovery and prevent re-injury. Outside of work, he enjoys family time, golfing, skiing, classical music, fine dining, and American football. He is married with three children.
