Ms Ms Karolina Afors

Miss Karolina Afors is a London based Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She graduated from St George’s Hospital (University of London) in 2006 and qualified as a member of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists in 2012. Miss Afors is a Consultant Gynaecologist at University College London Hopsital and practices privately at The Portland Hospital. She has a specialist interest in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and trained as a clinical fellow in advanced endoscopic surgery at both King’s College Hospital and IRCAD, an internationally recognised endoscopic centre in France. She regularly sees patients with menstrual disorders and pelvic pain and provides a range of gynaecological services and treatments including pelvic ultrasound, keyhole surgery, early pregnancy scanning, general gynaecology including emergencies and pre-fertility work up. Miss Afors holds a number of positions including chairman of the Young Endoscopic Platform (YEP) in conjunction with the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists and she serves on the BSGE committee for laparoscopic training. She also acts as head instructor for the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery. Miss Afors has published extensively with over 30 peer-reviewed publications. She is passionate about teaching and serves on the faculty for the laparoscopic courses at the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists as well as teaching on endoscopic courses at IRCAD, France.

Miss Karolina Afors has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery. Having trained at the world renowned IRCAD laparoscopic centre in France she has brought back many of these skills to the UK. She is a specialist in endometriosis in particular complex surgery for the excision of endometriosis, but also believes in a holistic approach to the management of this disease. She is the lead for endometriosis at Whittington Hospital, where her NHS practice is based and set up as an endometriosis centre in 2017. She is also an expert in performing laparoscopic gynaecological procedures such as treatment of endometriosis, ovarian cystectomy, hysterectomy and myomectomy.
