Dr Mary-Louise Montague

Mary-Louise Montague graduated with honours from the University of Glasgow Medical School, UK and was awarded the prestigious Brunton Memorial Prize as the most distinguished medical graduate in 1996. She trained in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in the East of Scotland with Specialist Registrar posts in Dundee and Edinburgh including at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. She completed Senior Clinical Fellowship training in Paediatric Otolaryngology at the Sick Children’s Hospital, Yorkhill, Glasgow prior to her appointment to the Consultant Staff of the Edinburgh University Department of Otolaryngology in January 2007. She practises as a Paediatric Otolaryngologist at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People Edinburgh, where she was lead clinician for the Paediatric ENT Service from 2007-2017.  Her practice encompasses general ENT problems in children and young people with consideration given to medical and surgical treatment options. She is the only dedicated Paediatric ENT specialist currently working in the private sector in the East of Scotland. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, and contributes extensively to the teaching and training of undergraduates, postgraduates, nurses and allied health professionals. She is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has authored six chapters in three distinguished ENT textbooks. She currently serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow. She has held a number of positions including council member of the British Association for Paediatric Otolaryngology promoting excellence in the field, Paediatric ENT representative on the Scottish Consultants' Committee for Children's Surgical Services and Associate Director of Medical Education at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People and Department of Clinical Neurosciences. Mary-Louise is married with two sons and is a keen musician and gardener in her spare time.
