GMC reg: 5201863I was appointed as a consultant at Stanley Eye Unit, Abergele in 2009. I trained in general ophthalmology initially at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, India. I then went on to train further in the UK at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. I underwent subspeciality training in glaucoma at the Manchester University Hospital, and undertook a fellowship period in Warrington Eye Hospital to train under Mrs. Wishart who was one of the pioneers in Non- Penetrating surgery in the UK. I have set up non penetrating surgery in Abergele but also performs penetrating glaucoma surgery and Glaucoma Tube surgery. We now performs over 200 viscocanalostomies a year at Stanley eye unit. I have recently published and presented my results at various meetings across the UK.I took on the role of glaucoma lead for North wales and have worked to establish new models of glaucoma care across the region. I have also trained nurse practitioners to create a team to lead the development of shared care in glaucoma. I have helped establish 3 Ophthalmic Diagnostic Treatment centres, one at Deeside, the second at Colwyn Bay and third at Caernarfon as a part of this shared care scheme. The Glaucoma unit has 1 fellowship attracting national and international candidates. The unit has also recently acquired recognition by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for TSC in Glaucoma. I have a particular interest in teaching and training and have been responsible for conducting Wet-lab sessions for non-penetrating surgery to train other consultants , Glaucoma fellows and senior trainees across the UK (in the North at Manchester/Warrington). I have recently got recognition from the Royal college to run this as an approved Royal college run course. I am also actively involved in the training of nurse practitioners in Abergele and Bangor. I have recently taken up the role of an assessor for the Diploma in ophthalmic and vision Science course to assess students in the North Wales/Merseyside. I am a council member for NEOS and involved in organizing meetings regularly in the northwest. I am also the Glaucoma secretary for CHIL factor and we conduct an annual meeting to keep up with technology and ophthalmology
