Mrs Mrs Anne Mitchener

With more than 20 years’ spinal surgery experience, Mrs Anne Mitchener is a vastly experienced consultant neurosurgeon. Innovative and dedicated, she specialises in the treatment of degenerate spine, including referred pain in the back, neck, arms, and legs. Wherever possible she strives to avoid or minimise intervention and is a firm advocate of the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques and the use of non-operative approaches such as injections. Her background in psychology, with two degrees in the field, give her a holistic overview of the challenges faced by her patients. A passionate, committed, and above all, positive professional, she carries out spinal surgery, both for the NHS and on a private basis. In 1979, Mrs Anne Mitchener graduated in psychology from University College London and supplemented this qualification in 1983 with a PhD in drug abuse at the Institute of Psychiatry, also part of University College London. She achieved her medical degree four years later, in 1987, at the University of Cambridge studying at Downing College and New Addenbrooke’s Hospital, before undertaking her training as a neurosurgeon in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. In 2001, she joined the principal list as a consultant neurosurgeon and has been practising since 2002. Consultant Neurosurgeon at Stavanger University Hospital, Norway, where she worked from 2002 until 2006, before taking similar roles at Charing Cross Hospital and King’s College Hospital in 2006 and 2009, respectively. Now completely independent, she practises in central London and peripheral hospitals. Solutions-focussed and forward-thinking, Mrs Mitchener keeps constantly updated with the latest developments in neurosurgery by regularly attending key medical conferences. She has lectured and trained surgeons, helped develop spinal technologies and is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, Society of British Neurological Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Independent Doctors Federation. She finds the process of restoring her patients to good health and supporting them through their individual challenges extremely rewarding. A qualified executive coach, she has a lifelong interest in understanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, a skillset which helps her bring a positive and informed attitude to every person she treats. I have  started practicing in November 2023 at Cromwell Hospital, Harley Street Hospital and continued at Clementime Churchill Hospital and The Harley Street Specialists Hospital, with consultation clinics and imaging only at Syon Clinic Brentford and Prime Health Weybridge.
