Mr Wasim Mahmalji

A Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Wye Valley NHS Trust, England, United Kingdom. I completed my urological training in the South London/Thames area in the UK in 2015 and at 34 years of age became one of the youngest consultants in the UK in the same year. I have a specialist interest in stone disease, Core Urology, Endourology and Education. I have performed over 8000 urological procedures, both elective and emergency and was the first surgeon to offer the UroLift and Rezum procedures in the NHS in the West Midland and the first surgeon in the UK to use a deflectable access sheath. I have also been involved in investment of state-of-the-art stone holmium lasers and ureteroscopies at my hospital and have opened his centres onsite lithotripsy service. I chair and attend frequent meetings and courses to stay up to date. Appointed as stone and education lead at my hospital and West Midlands Urology Audit Lead, I have been heavily involved in audit, research, teaching and training to both under and post graduate students. I chair the West Midlands, UK audit and research meetings. I am also the Senior Academy Tutor for International Medical Education, John Ross Postgraduate Medical Centre Wye Valley NHS Trust, England, United Kingdom I have had the privilege of multiple podium presentations at the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) UK, the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), the European Association of Urology (EAU) and other international conferences. I have also won and been shortlisted for multiple urological awards and prizes. I have also performed multiple audits and quality improvement projects. I am the editor in chief of the Journal of Endoluminal Endourology. I have published 3 chapters in a urological books and have been a lead and/or co-author in over 50 publications with many pending. I review for journals including the British Journal of Urology International, International Journal of STD & Aids, the Ageing Male and The Journal of Clinical Urology. I have also appeared on national and regional television and media.
