Tim White is a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon specialising in acute knee injuries. He has run the Acute Knee Injuries Clinic at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since being appointed Consultant in 2006. He has been the Clinical Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service, and is a Reader at the University of Edinburgh with research interests in recovery from injury, including the use of new biological therapies such as PRP. In his NHS practice, Mr White sees all acute knee injuries presenting to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with one consultant colleague. In addition, he runs a national NHS referral service, seeing patients with complex injuries referred by other knee specialists in Perth, Dundee, Inverness and the Borders. In Private Practice he, with Dr Carrie McCrea, are the founders of Joint Solutions, a partnership of surgeons, sports physicians and physiotherapists with a focus and commitment to the rapid diagnosis and treatment of sport-related injuries. Joint Solutions operates at The Edinburgh Clinic, offering a rapid, integrated service with expert musculoskeletal radiologists, MRI scanning and a superbly equipped state-of-the-art operating theatre. Mr White regularly operates there on both amateur and professional sportsmen and women, including Scottish Premiership footballers. His areas of knee surgical practice include the whole range of arthroscopic (keyhole) and open surgeries including meniscal injuries and repair, cartilage injuries and repair, debridement, microfracture and mosaicplasty, patella stabilisation and ligament reconstruction. In addition, non-surgical treatments such as injections of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) are immediately available at the Clinic. Rehabilitation: The Edinburgh Clinic can provide a comprehensive physiotherapy, prehab, and rehab service.
