Mr Szabolcs Szigethy

I qualified from Medical School of Szeged, Hungary, and was granted my Certificate of Completion by the Hungarian National Specialist Board with a further specialist training in the Teaching Hospital of Szombathely and all Hungarian Medical Schools (Debrecen, Pecs, Szeged, Budapest). After qualifying I spent the first 14 years of my career outside of the UK, and have worked across the country since 2007. I have been involved in research into sarcoidosis, a rare condition that, if recognised and diagnosed by ENT surgeon, can be treated well by chest physician. (I was awarded with Markusovszky Award for my contribution.) Working in a regional centre I was the contributing ENT surgeon of a cooperation with neurosurgeons in surgery on pituitary gland. I regularly participate in local and international courses (recently in Thessaloniki and Rome) to keep up to date. I hold an MBA from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and am a member of the European Rhinologic Society and the Royal Society of Medicine. I am currently studying digital marketing, a master’s program, with particularly interest its use in the field of health care.

I treat a broad spectrum of ear, nose and throat conditions, and as a part of this I perform a wide range of procedures, which among others include tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, grommet insertion, and endoscopic sinus surgery, with a special interest in functional nasal airway surgery. My motto is “Salus aegroti suprema lex” that can be translated from Latin as “Patients’ interest is the highest law."
