Mr Sunil Auplish

Sunil obtained his medical degree from Guy’s and St.Thomas’ Hospitals in London, and trained to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon on the Oxford training programme. During this time, he found the treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions particularly rewarding, and was inspired to become an upper limb surgeon. He was privileged to perform complex open and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery of these joints during his Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in Lancashire, the internationally famous Centre of Excellence for Upper Limb Surgery. In 2011 Mr Auplish was awarded the prestigious British Elbow and Shoulder Society Travelling Fellowship and in 2013 he gained his European Diploma of Hand Surgery. Sunil was appointed as a Consultant in Essex in 2009 and was delighted when the opportunity to move and become a Consultant Surgeon in York arose in 2017. Sunil was nominated for a PRIDE award during his time in Essex and has been nominated for a STAR award in York. Both awards are for Outstanding patient care above and beyond the call of duty. Sunil has a strong interest in teaching and training, and has designed and led many orthopaedic surgical courses. He thoroughly enjoys his work as a Faculty lecturer teaching fellow orthopaedic surgeons, junior doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and plaster technicians. He has a great love of music and plays the guitar, piano and drums – when his family and neighbours permit! As well as treating arthritis and sports injuries, he has an interest in helping musicians whose muscle and joint problems are preventing them from achieving their full potential.
