Stuart was born in Surrey and grew up in Braintree, Essex & Camberley in Surrey. He has lived in Bishop's Stortford with his wife and two children for the past ten years. Training Stuart qualified at St. Thomas's Hospital, part of the United Medical & Dental Schools of Guys & St. Thomas's Hospitals (now part of Kings), in London. After working on Surrey & Eastbourne, Stuart completed his training on the North Central Thames Rotation in Urology and Became the Senior Clinical Fellow to the Stone Unit at University College London Hospital and Admin SR / Lead Registrar for 15 months. During this time, he was awarded the Markowicz Prize as Registrar of the Year. NHS Service After 18 months as a Consultant at The Lister Hospital in Stevenage, where he set up a Comprehensive Stone Service, Stuart was appointed as Consultant Urologist & Stone Surgeon at Whipps Cross Hospital, Part of Barts Health NHS Trust. He is now the Director of Endourology and Stone Services for the whole trust. Stuart now performs all the major stone surgery for Barts health, a population of almost 2.5 million people, including very complex endourological procedures, often directing a team of several surgeons. He performs over 50 PCNLs a year and over 200 flexible ureterorenoscopies and ureteroscopies. In 2015 he set up the trust’s holmium enucleation of the prostate service (HoLEP), having previously performed greenlight prostatectomy and been part of the GOLIATH European study group that gained this procedure it’s NICE approval. Stuart has now performed over 70 HoLEPs, including some very large prostates. In 2017 he took up UroLift and offers this now as well. He has run the laser bladder clinic, where bladder cancer can be lasered under local anaesthetic since his appointment at Barts Health. Stuart continues to have a background in core urology and continues to offer treatment in this, alongside his stone and laser interest. Stuart has authored a book chapter, several papers including one in the Journal of Applied Mathematics. He has led to presentation over 30 podium presentations and poster presentations and has presented as an expert in numerous conferences. Stuart is Honorary Clinical Lecturer to Queen Mary, University of London, where he lectures at QMUL to the second, third & graduate entry years on basic science, and applied subjects such a stone disease. He is urology lead to the medical school for third year students at Whipps Cross, Improving Surgical Training lead, and Co-Foundation Programme Director. In the private sector, He is member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Holly Private Hospital, and its Clinical Governance Lead. He is also the Urology Lead for Medefer.
