Mr Spiros Stavropoulos

I was born and raised in Canada. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario in Microbiology and Immunology. I was offered a full academic scholarship at the University of Athens School of Medicine where I completed my medical training. I also completed a masters degree in Metabolic Diseases of Bone. I completed my orthopaedic registrar training at a tertiary trauma and elective centre in Athens Greece. I have also post CCT training with professor Dean Sotereanos at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Centre in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, USA. I am upper limb fellowship trained at the Royal London Hospital in London and at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. I am currently a substantive trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty in upper limb surgery at York Teaching Hospitals, Scarborough General Hospital.

I am certified to perform Wide Awake Local Anaesthetic No Tourniquet Surgery (WALANT). My scope of practice includes Boutonniere Deformity, Mallet Finger, Base of Thumb Arthritis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Dupuytrens Contracture, Key hole surgery, Mucous cysts, Osteoarthritis of the Terminal Finger Joints, Skiers Thumb, Small Joint Replacements in the Hand, Trigger Finger, Tendon Injuries, Tendon Transfers and all hand fractures. I also specialize in Distal Radio-Ulna Joint Arthritis, Wrist Arthroscopy, DeQuervains Tenosynovitis, Ganglions, Scaphoid fractures, Scaphoid Non Union, Distal Radial Fracture, Triangular Fibro Cartilaginous Complex TFCC Tears, Humerus Fractures at the Elbow, Radial Tunnel Syndrome, Ulna Nerve Release, Elbow Dislocation, Stiff Elbow, Elbow arthritis, Radial Head injuries, Golfers Elbow, Tennis Elbow, Olecranon Bursitis, Keyhole Surgery in the Elbow and Sports and Over Use Injuries.
