Mr Simon Radcliffe

Mr Simon Radcliffe is the most senior of the full-time surgeons in Morecambe Bay Health Trust. He has extensive experience in hip trauma, primary and revision hip surgery, primary and revision knee replacement surgery, knee arthroscopic surgery, knee cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery, knee sports injury, including meniscal repair and chondral defect surgery and knee joint preserving osteotomy surgery. Mr Radcliffe has have over 20 years of experience as a Consultant surgeon at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital and Lancaster Private Hospital. Along with his NHS work he conducts private consultations for insured and self-pay patients at Lancaster Private Hospital, where he also regularly operates. He has exceptionally low levels of complications for infections and revision of primary joint replacements of hip and knee, of which he has done over two thousand cases, reflected in my position in the National Joint Register data results and only uses 10A rated prostheses. Mr Radcliffe understands the importance of follow-up and has an open-door policy for post-operative patients, he is known for his compassion and understanding with his patients. He is involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors and orthopaedic trainees, giving lectures to Consultants at local and regional level. He has set up a knee joint preserving osteotomy service within the Morecambe Bay Trust and have ongoing research into hip fracture treatment.
