Simon is a specialist Consultant Hip Surgeon. He has a strong interest in the treatment of young adults with hip disorders as well as a busy practice undertaking total hip replacement and re-do hip replacements. He is a Consultant Hip Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. Background: Simon completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Southampton. He was appointed to the prestigious academic post on the North-West London orthopaedic training rotation. During this time he completed a PhD at Imperial College London. This included novel work on implant coating materials and the development of patient specific guides for joint replacement surgery. Fellowships: Simon completed a specialist hip fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital which has an outstanding reputation for joint replacement surgery. He was subsequently appointed to a hip and knee fellowship at the world renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, where he received specialist training in keyhole hip surgery (arthroscopy). He has received highly specialist training in surgery for hip dysplasia at Guy’s Hospital in London. He was appointed as a Consultant Hip Surgeon with.a specialist interest in young adult hip surgery at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford in 2018 before moving to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London in 2024. Research: Simon has presented or published over 60 papers. He has been awarded multiple prizes for his research work. He is actively involved in hip and knee research projects at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. Current research projects include: the development of new orthopaedic knee implants, stem cell therapies for early hip osteoarthritis, minimally invasive surgical approaches for hip replacement, enhanced recovery following hip replacement surgery and virtual reality training systems for surgeons. Simon lives in West London, he spends most of his free time trying to keep up with his four young children.
