Mr Sekhar Marla

I have been working at University Hospitals of North Midlands since 2016 as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon. I qualified from the University of Delhi and undertook training in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery in Delhi before coming to the UK. After completing my Higher Surgical Training in the West Midlands, I consolidated my oncoplastic breast surgery knowledge through a Travelling Fellowship at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. I am the Lead for the Multidisciplinary Team for Breast Cancer services at the Trust and am involved in improving breast cancer pathways.  I have previously done research in breast cancer including an MSc degree from Glasgow University and regularly publish my work. I am a tutor for medical students at Keele University and help in training upcoming breast surgeons in oncoplastic surgery. In my role as the Regional Representative of the West Midlands for the Association of Breast Surgery, I contribute to designing new guidelines and disseminating them to colleagues.
