Mr Scott L Barker MBChB, FRCSEd(Tr & Orth). Mr Scott Barker is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon. He specialises in Hip, Knee and Upper Limb Surgery. His main area of sub-specialist interest is Shoulder Surgery. Mr Barker graduated MB ChB from Aberdeen University in 2001. He went on to complete comprehensive basic surgical training in Aberdeen, Inverness, New Zealand and Australia. Following this he undertook his Orthopaedic training on the North of Scotland Deanery program, passing his FRCS (Tr and Orth) specialist exam in 2012. Prior to taking up his position as a Consultant in Aberdeen, Mr Barker completed two 6 months specialist Fellowships in Australia. His first 6 months was spent at the Ballarat Orthopaedic Centre, where he became proficient in advanced techniques in Hip and Knee Replacement. He then spent 6 months working at the prestigious Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow Centre. Mr Barker has been in his current NHS Consultant post since 2014. As well as participating in the general trauma on call rota, he specialises in complex upper limb trauma. His elective practice is varied with a large proportion of his work consisting of Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery, Shoulder Replacements and Robotic Assisted Hip and Knee Replacements. He is also involved in research in the Aberdeen Upper Limb Unit and has published articles in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the Shoulder and Elbow Journal and the Journal of Hand Surgery. Mr Barker consults at the Albyn Hospital, Aberdeen on a Tuesday afternoon.
