I retired from the local NHS trust(The Heart of England NHS Foundation trust) in October 2018 after 27 years as a consultant but has not given up my clinical work which has been very rewarding. My former NHS trust is now part of The University Hospitals Birmingham. Since my formal retirement, I have continued to provide part time NHS contracts and of course, my private work based at Spire Parkway Hospital.

Within Endourology, I have been a proponent of Day case Green Light Laser Prostatectomy for BPH treatment for the past 10 years.. After some ground work, this procedure as a day case has been very successful at Solihull Hospital but logistics with the availability of the 180Watts XPS Console has been against in providing this procedure as a day case at Spire Parkway. The best I could arrange is one night of inpatient stay or even better getting this done as a day case with excellent home support and then returning a few days later for trial of voiding without catheter.
