Mr Sanjay Agrawal

Mr Agrawal is a Consultant General and Bariatric Surgeon & Clinical Lead of Bariatric Surgery at Homerton University Hospital in London. He is also Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Blizard Institute in Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London, in London. Mr Agrawal is Director of London International Bariatric Surgery Symposium (LIBSS - https://libss.org/). LIBSS has been hugely successful every year - 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Mr Agrawal is Editor-in-Chief for a book titled ‘Obesity, Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery: A Practical Guide’ published in September, 2015 by Springer. The book has achieved >200,000 individual chapter downloads electronically worldwide so far. Under his editorship, a 2nd edition of this book titled ‘Obesity, Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery: A Comprehensive Guide’ has been released this year (2023). This 2nd edition is part of the prestigious Springer Nature’s Major Reference Works (MRW) program. Mr Agrawal is designated as ‘Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, MSMBS’ (previously called ‘Surgeon of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery’, ‘SOEMBS’ & ‘Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence (BSOE)’) since 2012 by Surgical Review Corporation of USA. Mr Agrawal has the honour of being the First Post-CCT Fellow in Bariatric and Upper GI Surgery awarded under the National Surgical Fellowship Scheme through the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the year 2009-10. He was awarded Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) Bariatric Fellowship with Dr Bruno Dillemans in Brugge (Bruges), Belgium for 3months (October–December, 2009). He was also awarded Ethicon Short Term Clinical Visit Grant by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the Gastric Fellowship at National Cancer Center & Cancer Institute Hospital in Tokyo, Japan in September, 2008. Mr Agrawal has had extensive training in UK, Belgium, Japan & India and has an experience of over 1500 laparoscopic bariatric procedures to date. In addition, he has undertaken more than 2500 general surgical procedures so far. Mr Agrawal trains other surgeons in bariatric & laparoscopic surgery and has made numerous presentations (>100) at national and international meetings as well as publications (>100) in peer-reviewed journals.
