Mr Rowan Pritchard Jones

I have been a Consultant Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon for four years and have a special interest in skin cancer reconstruction, in particular the care of patients with malignant melanoma. I have been Fellowship trained at Memorial Sloane Kettering in New York, and Johns Hopkins in Baltimore USA, as well as the Christie in Manchester and a Cosmetic Fellowship in the North West. I specialise in all aspects of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. This includes skin cancer removal and reconstruction, scar management and cosmetic treatments of the face, trunk and breast as well as abdomen. I have performed over 1,000 complex cancer reconstructions in every region of the body. I am the Chief Clinical Information Officer for St Helens & Knowsley NHS Trust and Clinical Programme Director for our Electronic Patient Record Project. I have a particular interest in technology to support patient care and am an award-winning medical App developer. In addition to my clinical work I am Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Liverpool University, actively involved in skin cancer research running a lab group work on malignant melanoma. I am also busy teaching undergraduate students. I was awarded the prestigious Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006 that launched my research career and have authored the national skin cancer book fro patients, as well as book chapters and publications in national and international journals. I am delighted to be working at Spire Wrexham having grown up in Whitchurch and educated in Chester, it is a real pleasure to have NHS practice in Wrexham as well as private practice at Spire. Research interests: I have published over 30 journal articles and contributed book chapters to the International Flap Manual and Oxford Handbook of Burns. My laboratory group have presented across the UK and Europe on our research work and I am a regular reviewer for plastic surgery and oncology journals as well as PhD examiner for Oxford University.
