I am a general vascular surgeon and deal regularly with aortic disease, peripheral vascular disease and carotid disease. I have a particular interest and a wide scope of practice in leg ulceration and venous disease including varicose veins. I am comprehensively trained in traditional surgery, endovenous therapy and foam sclerotherapy. I also perform microsclerotherapy for thread veins. I am currently looking to train in glue ablation of veins. I understand there are many different ways to treat veins from cosmetic to severely symptomatic or ulcerated. The individual needs diagnosis and assessment of what is most appropriate and venous treatment is tailored to the individual. Explanation is paramount. Newer treatments now allow ulcerated legs to be treated when ulcers are still active rather than wait until healed and I have an extensive NHS practice which relates to this.
