Mr Robert Davies

Mr Davies is a senior consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at the nationally renowned Leicester Vascular Institute, University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) where he is the Clinical Director for the Renal, Respiratory and CardioVascular (RRCV) Division. He is regarded as a national expert in peripheral arterial disease and has a sub-specialist clinical interest in vascular conditions affecting the leg; he pioneered the Vascular Limb Salvage Service at UHL and the Vascular Limb Salvage Academy for which he was awarded ‘most inspiring role model’ by the University Hospitals of Leicester. Mr Davies graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1999 and undertook his surgical training in the West Midlands. During this period, he was awarded a Masters degree in Medical Education (MMedSci) from the University of Nottingham for educational research in the field of limb salvage surgery, and a Medical Doctorate in surgery (MD) from the University of Birmingham for research in the field of endovascular (key-hole) aortic aneurysm surgery.  Mr Davies was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 2011. He was awarded a British Society of Endovascular Therapists (BSET) scholarship in 2011 during which he undertook post-certification specialist training in complex lower limb endovascular therapies. He was appointed as a consultant in 2012. He is active in the field of medical education and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in medical education at the University of Leicester. He maintains an active research profile in both clinical and educational fields of practice and is a previous member of the UK Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) for Vascular Surgery and Board of Examiners for the FRCS Vascular Surgery. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and is widely published in the medical literature.
