Mr Robert Clarke

I am a Colorectal consultant surgeon working at Royal Shrewsbury NHS Trust and have a private practice at the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury. I was trained in London at St Mary's Hospital Medical School, and after house jobs spent a further 18 months in surgical specialities in Perth, Australia. I completed my Surgical training after 3 years as a Senior House officer in Brighton and then a further 6 years of higher surgical training in the Wessex region. After completing an advanced  Laparoscopic Surgical fellowship at Bradford Teaching Hospital I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital.  Within my NHS practice I am part of the Colorectal cancer MDT at Shrewsbury and have a high volume colorectal cancer practice, offering a safe service with excellent outcomes. I  am one of the two early rectal cancer specialists within Shropshire performing and training transanal microsurgical surgery. I hold the position of Clinical Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons of England Advanced laparoscopic Fellowship at Shrewsbury- a prestigious and sought after training programme for surgeons seeking expert mentorship and training in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques. Within my NHS practice I offer a full general surgical service with a particular interest in laparoscopic hernia repair and previously have taught on laparoscopic hernia masterclasses courses at national level. Within the private sector I offer a full and efficient cancer diagnostic service, comprehensive proctology service with treatment for haemorrhoids, anal fissure and fistula as well as complex pilonidal disease. I have a special interest in the assessment and repair of abdominal and groin hernia and have a specific dedicated clinic for hernia assessment within my private practice.
