GMC reg: 4724742Mr Parmar is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in upper limb (arm) surgery. He has specialist experience in trauma, joint replacement, sports injuries and arthroscopic (keyhole)surgery. Mr Parmar graduated from the University of Manchester in 2000. He underwent postgraduatetraining in Manchester and Stoke prior to working in Sydney, Australia. He then completed histraining in the North West of England, gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in2010 and joined the Specialist Register in 2014.Mr Parmar was awarded competitive specialist fellowships at three world renowned units:Wrightington, Liverpool Upper Limb and Trauma at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. This allowed himto gain further experience of complex upper limb conditions and to become familiar with manytreatment options, utilising both arthroscopic (keyhole) and open techniques. He has sincevisited centres in Europe and North America to acquire new skills. He has been awarded theBritish Elbow and Shoulder Society Mayo Elbow Fellowship.Mr Parmar is an enthusiastic teacher. He has taught on international and national courses andhas been involved in organising the Liverpool Upper Limb Unit courses. He is currently theteaching lead for Shoulder & Elbow module for the Mersey region orthopaedic trainees and hasbeen a regular instructor on the Advanced Trauma Life Support course for over ten years, havingnow progressed to training the trainers for this course. He is heavily involved in educating thefuture of our healthcare being an educational and clinical supervisor of junior doctors. He hasongoing research interests and has presented his work both nationally and internationally. He is a trustee of The Frostick Foundation a charity set up to help improve the patient care for the patients of Liverpool.Mr Parmar is currently the secretary of the North West Upper Limb Group. A group of surgeons andphysiotherapist in the North West of England who regularly meet to advance care for ourpatients.Mr Parmar maintains a medicolegal practice writing a number of reports annually and being asubeditor for the OPiL Bond Solon Training course.Mr Parmar volunteered for a year as a consultant in Malawi and has been invited to present hisexperiences both nationally and internationally. Subsequently he has maintained an activeinterest in supporting orthopaedics in developing countries. He has written chapters fortextbooks specifically aimed at treating orthopaedic injuries in the austere environment. He is a founding member of two registered charities NorthWest Orthopaedic Trauma Alliance for Africa and The Frostick Foundation .Using this breadth of experience Mr Parmar aims to deliver patient focused care in treating a wide variety of upper limb conditions.Mr Parmar works in a centre with a fantastic reputation for trauma surgery and will perform surgery on a variety of upper limb trauma and sports injuries.
