Mr Richard Lockyer

Richard qualified from The London Hospital Medical College in 1993. His urology training was in London, Essex, Bristol and Southampton. He also enjoyed a British Urological Foundation funded clinical visit to The Cleveland Clinic. He was appointed as NHS consultant to University Hospitals Southampton, a tertiary referral teaching unit, in 2008. He led the unit from 2010 to 2017 growing it from 5 to 10 consultants. He is now the training programme director for urology training in Wessex. His major surgical interest is laparoscopic kidney and adrenal surgery along with endoscopic / cystoscopic prostate and bladder surgery including prostate cancer diagnostics and treatments for benign prostate enlargement. He is married to a local GP and has two teenage children. His interests are sailing, cars he cannot afford, skis annually and does a bit of cycling!
