GMC reg: 3175141I trained in Manchester and Australia and qualified as a doctor in 1987 and as a urologist in 1996. My first consultant job was in Wigan in 1999 and then I moved to Stockport in 2001 to pursue my interest in bladder and prostate cancer surgery. I have moved from open operations to laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures and for the last 4 years I have been using the Da Vinci robotic device to perform removal of prostates and bladders. As a team we were the first in Greater Manchester to perform robotic procedures to remove the bladder and reconstruct the bladder using the patients own bowel. We, as a team, perform around 150 prostatectomies a year. I have been an examiner for the royal college of surgeons for 10 years and mentor home grown registrars and Australian fellows in robotic pelvic surgery.
