I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in Soft tissue Knee surgery & arthroplasty, especially in joint preserving surgeries and sports knee injuries. My NHS practice is currently based in Tameside & Glossop Integrated Foundation NHS trust where I do THR, TKR, partial knee replacement, Patellofemoral joint Knee replacement, arthroscopic surgeries including ACL reconstruction, meniscal repairs and cartilage regeneration procedure as well as knee joint preserving procedures such as High Tibial Osteotomy and Distal Femoral Osteotomy around the knee. I also offer treatment for patellofemoral problems including MPFL &TTO surgeries After graduating from the premier medical school JIPMER, India, I completed my postgraduate orthopaedic training and emigrated to UK. I completed my Basic surgical training (BST) in Wales and Higher Surgical Training (HST) in West of Scotland rotation in and around Glasgow. During the final year of HST, I worked under renowned orthopaedic surgeon Mr. Kinninmonth, in Golden Jubilee National Hospital, a European centre of Orthopaedic excellence for joint replacements where I learnt the foundation principles of primary hip and knee replacements and enhanced recovery. During my training I developed special interest in Knee surgery which led me to be selected for the prestigious BOA transitional fellowship in Knee Osteotomy and soft tissue knee surgery where I learnt the principles of knee joint preservation by learning the principles of knee osteotomy. I complemented this fellowship with Mr. Geutjens sports knee fellowship in Derby where I learnt the principles of ligament reconstruction around the knee. I strongly focus on Evidence based Medicine and implement enhanced recovery in all my hip and knee replacement patients thereby diminishing their length of inpatient hospital stay. I actively contribute to the National joint registry (NJR) data as well as to the UK KNEE Osteotomy registry (UKKOR). I also actively collect Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) data from my patients which helps me to understand the outcome of my surgical intervention, so that I can reflect and improve my practiceI actively participate in research and have presented in several international meetings. I’m currently the Principal Investigator for WHITE trial, a multicentric RCT for NOFs with Tameside having been chosen as a centre to participate in the study. I have authored several international publications including ACL reconstruction technique in Journal of Knee Surgery. I am very keen on teaching, and I am the educational lead for junior doctors at Tameside Hospital. I keep myself updated by regularly attending courses and webinars to maintain the good clinical practice guidelines set by GMC.
