GMC reg: 6030057I am a Consultant in Adult and Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery. I was appointed as a consultant in Bristol in 2014. I undertook my medical training at the University of Oxford before completing my surgical training in the Southwest. As part of my advanced specialist training, I undertook a clinical and research fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. This focused on the management of complex ear disease, cochlear implantation and lateral skull base surgery. The University of Melbourne and Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital are world renown for the development of cochlear implants. I completed research projects on the effect of hearing implantation on cochlear mechanics and novel bone-anchored hearing aids technology. In 2016, I was elected to the council of the British Society of Otology. In 2018, I was invited to join the council of the Royal Society of Medicine, Section of Otology as Honorary Secretary. In addition to my clinical work, I have an interest in ENT research and Teaching. I am an Honorary Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Bristol, School of Social and Community Medicine. In addition to general adult and paediatric ENT, I have a specialist interest in all aspects of otology (conditions of the ear) including hearing loss, tinnitus, chronic ear infections, glue ear, inner-ear balance disorders, hearing implants and lateral skull base surgery. I am vice-chair of the regional Skull Base service based at Southmead Hospital and regularly undertake complex skull base surgery with neurosurgical colleagues. I am the clinical lead for the Bristol Acoustic Neuroma (Vestibular Schwannoma) service.
