Mr Nitin Patel

Nitin completed his Neurosurgical training and higher degree in Bristol in 1999. Following a Neurosurgical Fellowship in Melbourne, he was appointed as Consultant Neurosurgeon at Frenchay hospital, Bristol in 2000. Nitin has a wide practice in spine surgery, undertaking complex spine procedures in all areas of the spine with varied pathological conditions including trauma, infection and tumours. His main interests are in complex cervical spine surgery, intradural tumours, and posterior trans-pedicular approaches for metastatic spine vertebral reconstruction, thoracic disc surgery and lumbar decompression or fusion procedures. He has a keen interest in spinal education and teaches both nationally and internationally. He has previously been clinical lead for Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression and Training Programme Director for the South West Programme. He is currently the clinical lead for Spinal Neurosurgery at Southmead hospital in Bristol.
