Mr Muhammad Riaz

I graduated from Nishtar Medical College, Multan, Pakistan and completed my basic surgical training in Nishtar Hospital, Multan for five years before coming to the UK and Ireland for post-graduation. I worked for another four years in general surgery and completed my post-graduation by obtaining Fellowships from different Royal Colleges. I started my training in Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery in England and Northern Ireland. At the end of this training I obtained FRCS (plast) and worked at consultant level in Belfast before returning to Pakistan in January 1999 to fulfil my ambition of working for the parent institution where no plastic surgery services were available. I established plastic and burn unit in Nishtar Hospital and worked there for three years voluntarily before returning to the UK in January 2002. I have kept my teaching and training commitments with Nishtar Medical University and am an honorary visiting professor of plastic surgery for the University. I obtained my aesthetic surgery training through my NHS jobs which were available at that stage and also worked with my teachers in the private sector. I also went to Atlanta, USA to spend some time with very well-known aesthetic surgeons to further my experience in aesthetic surgery. I took my substantive consultant post in Hull University Teaching Hospitals from January 2004 and have been practising in aesthetic surgery through local private hospitals. I took aesthetic surgery as my specialty. I have been Senior Clinical Tutor for Hull York Medical School (HYMS). I am National Aesthetic Surgery Trainer for BAPRAS/BAAPS aesthetic fellows. I am a full member of BAPRAS, BAAPS, PAPS, BSRS, ISAPS and UKAPS/CAPSCO. I have been a Council Member of BAAPS and BSRS. At present I am President of UK Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (UKAPS) and Chairman of Consortium of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Clinic Owners (CAPSCO). I have a few signature procedures including ‘R’ face and neck lift, ‘R’ breast reduction, ‘R’ mastopexy and ‘R’ temple/eyebrow lift and also my own approach for lower eyelid and midface surgery. I am passionate for teaching, training and sharing surgical skills. I have numerous publications and National and International presentations of my work. Over the years I have been involved with charitable work through Overseas Plastic Surgery Appeal (OPSA) to help children with cleft lip and palate and has established a dedicated cleft hospital in Gujrat, Pakistan. I have been practising from East Yorkshire, England but now after early retirement from the NHS am available for services from The Ghanem Clinic in London.
