Mr. Ashish Desai is a Consultant Paediatric surgeon at Royal London Hospital. Ashish has more than 30 years of experience treating paediatric surgical conditions. He manages all routine surgical conditions like inguinal hernia, undescended testis, phimosis, smegma cysts, tongue tie, urinary incontinence, bed wetting, constipation as well as complex conditions requiring fundoplication, diagnostic laparoscopy or distal hypospadias repair. He is an expert laparoscopic surgeon and has been training and mentoring junior doctors. He is a leading authority in Paediatric Obesity and Bariatric Surgery. He set up the first "Surgical weight loss Centre" at King's college hospital and is now setting up the same at Royal London Hospital. Ashish has worked as specialist advisor to NICE and NCEPOD for bariatric surgery and was member of Paediatric Bariatric Surgery CRG to set up service specifications for the Tier 4 service. He is currently member of NHS-England Tier 3 CYP Obesity taskforce. Ashish has organised 3 international meetings for Paediatric Obesity. He has also been organising chairman of Congress for British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons and organising committee member of 2 Congresses of European Society of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons as well as British Association of Paediatric Surgeons. He has published 35 chapters and numerous articles in indexed journals. He has presented in more than 100 congresses and conferences. Mr. Desai was also Honorary Secretary of British Association of Paediatric Surgeons from 2020-2023. He is also involved with various charities. He has keen interest in Quality Improvement.
