Mr Michael Woodruff

I graduated from the University of Sheffield Medical School in 1994 before training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Yorkshire. During my training, I undertook three Hand Surgery Fellowships, two in the UK and one at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital. This prepared me for a career as a specialist Hand and Wrist surgeon. I was appointed by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon in 2006. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Society for Surgery of the Hand and North West Hand Society. I am Chair of the Cumbria and Lancashire Association for Surgery of the Hand. I am passionate about Training and Education. I have held a number of local regional and national roles related to medical education; currently I am the Training Programme Director for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery for NHSE North West (Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria). I am a Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh MRCS examiner, FRCS Orth examiner and British Society for Surgery of the Hand, Hand Diploma examiner. In my spare time, I am an active ECB qualified cricket coach and play the classical guitar.
