Mr Mark Blomfield

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with a busy NHS practice at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. I principally manage foot and ankle conditions, including complex primary and revision surgery. I also provide a full acute general trauma service for fracture fixation. My subspecialty interests encompass arthroplasty (joint replacement) and arthroscopic (key hole) surgery of the foot and ankle, deformity correction and arthrodesis of the forefoot, mid-foot, hind-foot & ankle and the management of sports injuries. I offers a comprehensive service that includes non-operative or conservative management strategies. Particular attention is focused on good communication, high quality personalised care & advice and facilitating informed choice.’ I graduated MbChB from the University of Sheffield in 2007 having previously completed a Bachelor of medical science degree at the University of Birmingham in 2002. I completed my Basic Surgical Training in Leeds and Bradford, passing MRCS(Eng) in 2006, before entering Higher Surgical Training within the Yorkshire region and becoming Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2017. After completion of FRCS(Tr & Orth) I completed a prestigious SAC approved advanced surgical training post in Foot & Ankle surgery. I maintain an active interest in research and training. I regularly lecture on foot and ankle topics and have presented research findings locally, nationally and internationally, with publications in peer reviewed international journals. I currently organise and chair the Mersey regional foot and ankle MDT meeting for complex cases.
