Mr Manit Arya

Manit qualified from Manchester Medical School. Following a basic surgical rotation in Manchester and Birmingham, he completed his higher specialist training in Urology (with a specialist interest in prostate cancer) on the North London rotation. Manit has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. He offers the latest diagnostic advancements including contrast enhanced multi-parametric MRI of the prostate and template transperineal prostate biopsies (these are more accurate and are associated with a significantly lower risk of infection than traditional transrectal biopsies). Manit performs the latest minimally invasive innovative techniques such as targetted HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) and cryotherapy in the treatment of: 1) primary prostate cancer (cancer which has not been previously treated) 2) prostate cancer that has recurred following previous radiotherapy (radio-recurrent prostate cancer). These cutting edge procedures avoid the potential harm done by radical surgery and radiotherapy which may significantly affect quality of life and sexual function. Manit is currently one of the largest volume prostate HIFU and cryotherapy surgeons in Europe. He is an internationally recognised mentor for both focal prostate HIFU and cryotherapy in the treatment of prostate cancer.

The majority of my clinical work relates to minimally invasive interventional techniques in the treatment of prostate cancer. Details related to focal cryotherapy and HIFU procedures that I have performed continue to be included on the ICE and HEAT databases/registries respectively (procedures undertaken, complications, outcomes).
