Qualifications: MMBch, MSc, FRCS(Glasg) & PhD Mr. Nassar graduated from medical school in Egypt (MBBch, 1999) in the top 5 of his class, excellent with honours degree, then started residency in ophthalmology (2000) in Minia University hospital.He was awarded MSc in ophthalmology in 2004 and FRCS(Glasg) in 2008. Then continued in research and training in Egypt (Ophthalmology University residency program) and the northeast of England (fellowship trained) to complete his training in 2009. During which he was awarded PhD in ophthalmology by joint supervision Between Newcastle University, UK and Minia University, Egypt in 2009.Mr Nassar’s work experience stretches across Egyptian University hospitals and private sector, NHS Scotland and England Along with independent sector in Scotland and England.He is currently a consultant ophthalmologist, Newcastle Eye Centre, RVI and covers multiple high-volume cataract lists across England & Scotland. Academically he is a senior lecturer in Ophthalmology (Faculty of Medicine, Minia University) and an honorary Associate lecturer in Newcastle University.Mr Nassar’s sub-specialises in paediatric ophthalmology including paediatric and adult cataract & squint surgery including Botox injections to extraocular muscles for treating adult squint. His research interest spans across paediatric ophthalmology, ocular trauma and strabismus as well as retinopathy of prematurity. Mr Nassar is a member of CESP (Consultant Eye Surgeons Partnership).
