Mr Lawrence Okiror is a Consultant Thoracic and Robotic Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) — ranked #1 and #2 among UK hospitals by Newsweek World's Best Hospitals 2026 — with private practice at London Bridge Hospital (ranked #10 in the UK, the highest-ranked private hospital in the country) and The Lister Hospital, Chelsea. He is London's specialist in lung nodules and early lung cancer. Private appointments are available within 2–3 days. No GP referral is required. In 2024–25, Mr Okiror performed 153 anatomic lung resections with a 99.16% operative survival rate, against a national benchmark of 98.5%. Over 80% of his operations are performed by robotic or keyhole techniques. He has carried out more than 1,000 such operations across his career. GSTT is the UK's largest robotic thoracic surgery programme, performing 57.8% of lung cancer operations robotically — more than double the 24% national average (SCTS National Audit 2023–24). Mr Okiror is clinical audit lead for GSTT Thoracic Surgery and is part of the largest Intraoperative Navigation (ION) bronchoscopy programme, which has performed over 100 procedures. He also offers private ION biopsies for small, hard-to-reach lung nodules at London Bridge Hospital — the first private hospital in Europe to offer this technology in routine practice. He is the surgical lead for a nationally commissioned service Advanced Emphysema Surgical Service at GSTT, where he is sole operator for both Endobronchial Valve placement and Lung Volume Reduction Surgery. He also leads the Central Airways Service at GSTT dealing with some of the most complex airway conditions. He is co-Principal Investigator on the MIST-4 international clinical trial. Mr Okiror holds dual Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh (FRCS(CTh), FRCSEd(CTh)). He advises on the Cardiothoracic Surgery Robotics Advisory Panel and sits on the Surgical Specialty Board at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is an exam question writer for both the UK Intercollegiate Board and the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Block Lead at King's College London Medical School. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national research awards. Private consultations are available at London Bridge Hospital and The Lister Hospital, Chelsea within 2–3 days.
