This information is provided by Mr Keshav Swarnkar.
GMC reg: 4456571I attained my undergraduate qualifications (MBBS) in 1990 and achieved my postgraduate qualifications in 1996 by completing my fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh & Glasgow. By 2003 I had completed my higher surgical training to acquire my CCT and was subsequently appointed as a substantive consultant in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). Within my sphere of work I am part of the emergency rota and also undertake elective general & colorectal surgery. I am the lead clinician for the colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team in our health board and we regularly benchmark our unit performance by submitting our data to the National Bowel Cancer Audit Project (NBOCAP). My management responsibilities also involve being the clinical lead and chairperson for infection control in the ABUHB. I am both keen on teaching and being a recognised trainer and honorary clinical tutor, acting as both a Clinical and Educational supervisor to undergraduate medical students and postgraduate surgical trainees in Wales. I am also an advanced trainer on the Welsh laparoscopic training courses for Colorectal Cancer Surgery and I am a tutor of the Basic Surgical skills course. Maintaining a keen interest in research, I am the site-lead Principal investigator for both the ADD Aspirin and Marcutis trial, and co-Principal investigator for the recently concluded Laces trial, ongoing CREST 2 trial and ongoing Rossini trial. Outside of work I enjoy travelling, photography and gardening. To relax I follow the cricket and dedicate my remaining time to volunteering at a local charity.
