Professor Mr Joseph Dias

FRCS(England), MD on clinical management of Scaphoid Fractures, Leicester University. I am Professor in Hand & Orthopaedic Surgery and Head of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery for University of Leicester and Consultant Hand and Orthopaedic Surgeon, at University Hospitals of Leicester. At present my practice is on disorders of the Hand, Wrist and upper limb including arthroscopic and implant surgery I was President of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand in 2008 , Secretary of the British Orthopaedic Association 2009-2010, President British Orthopaedic Association 2012. I am also a member of FESSH and IFSSH. Past Editor in Chief, Journal of Hand Surgery (Eur) and Head of School of Surgery and Past Chair of the BOA Education Board. I Chair the Clinical Senate. Most of my research is clinically based investigating intervention effectiveness in prospective randomised studies for various disorders of the hand providing a high level of evidence and has altered management of various disorders, provision of hand surgery and assessment of outcome. Over 200 Peer reviewed articles, 27 in the last 5 years. Over 25 Chapters. I supervise MD, MSc and PhD Students. I hold several NIHR Grants and Lead AToMS.
