GMC reg: 4027751Jonathon Olsburgh is a consultant urologist and transplant surgeon. He specialises in Urology of Transplantation and Renal Failure and laparoscopic and reconstructive surgery. He has performed over 200 laparoscopic "keyhole" assisted donor nephrectomy operations, so that a relative or friend can donate a kidney for transplantation, and over 200 kidney transplants including dual kidney, combined kidney / pancreas, combined liver/kidney and paediatric kidney transplants. He has an international referral practice in urinary tract reconstruction prior to and after kidney transplant. Jonathon also jointly runs the Young Onset Urology (YOU) clinic for adolescents and young adults transitioning from paediatrics and he also has a particular interest in treating patients with urinary tract infections (UTI). There are integrated video-urodynamics and multi-disciplinary team meetings. His academic interests include urological aspects of transplant surgery, UTI and basic science research of the urothelium - the specialised lining cells of the urinary tract including his PhD on this subject. This has potential applications in treating urinary tract cancer, infection and diseases that require surgical reconstruction of the urinary tract. He has co-authored over 70 papers and many book chapters. Jonathon Olsburgh was appointed to Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital (GSTT) in 2006. He is Chair of the GSTT Audit and Quality Improvement Committee. He was a member of the UK Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in Urology and was previous director of transplant training in London. He is the vice-chairman of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines on Renal Transplantations.
