Following medical qualification in 1995, Mr Whittaker completed Basic Surgical Training in Liverpool, Chester & Shrewsbury achieving the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999. Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training was completed on the prestigious Oswestry rotation with the award of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2005. A broad experience of complex hip and knee problems has developed from fellowships at international centres of excellence including Exeter (Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre) and Canada (London Health Sciences Centre). Ongoing research & training remains an integral part of his practice.
