Mr John Goodden

Mr Goodden undertakes a limited amount of private practice due to the constraints of his busy NHS practice. Mr Goodden is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a mixed paediatric & adult neurosurgery practice. He has been a Consultant in Leeds since February 2010. He specialises in oncology surgery across all age-groups and is a Core Member of both the Adult and Paediatric Neuro-Oncology MDTs. He is joint Lead for the Low Grade Glioma service and regularly performs awake craniotomy operations (>100 performed). He has a broad range of expertise commensurate with his mixed practice including hydrocephalus, neuro-endoscopy, Spasticity surgery (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy & Intrathecal baclofen), spina bifida / dysraphism surgery, VNS therapy for epilepsy, Chiari & syringomyelia, and acute problems including trauma & infections. He maintains his CPD by attending a range of conferences at which he has presented and also chaired sessions. Training Background: Medicine at St George’s Hospital Medical School, London. Ppstgraduate surgery training completed in South-West London. Awarded MRCS at Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000. Neurosurgery Registrar training Haywards Heath then in Sheffield and Hull. Visiting Fellow in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Hôpital Necker - Enfants Malades, Paris, France (Summer 2008). National Fellow in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, October 2008 to February 2010.
