After graduating from Medical School at the University of Heidelberg his training took Mr. Fischer from Germany to the north-west of England where he completed his specialty training in Merseyside. He undertook fellowship training in some of the most prestigious departments for hand and upper limb surgery like Wrightington, the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby and the Indiana Hand Centre in Indianapolis. He also spent time in Soweto for a trauma fellowship. Mr. Fischer has a special interest in training the new generation of orthopaedic surgeons and is the educational supervisor for speciality trainees in Macclesfield.

Mr. Fischer has a special interest in keyhole surgery, including shoulder, elbow and wrist, but also keyhole release of carpal tunnel syndrome. His other interests include shoulder joint replacement surgery and Orthobiologics treatments like PRP (Platelet-Rich-Plasma) and stem cells. He regularly treats patients with sports injuries. By working closely with a number of specialised Physiotherapists and Hand/Occupational Therapists he maximises non-operative treatment whenever possible and patients will also benefit from the best possible post-operative rehabilitation. Mr. Fischer also treats patients with a range of fractures of the upper limb. Regularly carried out procedures include: Arthroscopic subacromial decompression, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, patch augmentation for rotator ccuff repairs, shoulder instability surgery, InSpace balloon implantation, arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction, surgery for calcific tendinitis, hydrodilatation for frozen shoulder, treatment of SLAP tears, anatomical and reverse shoulder replacement, open and endoscopic carpal tunnel release, cubital tunnel release, Dupuytrens surgery including minimally invasive and Xiapex, trigger finger, De Quervains release, excision of ganglions and mucous cysts, tennis end golfers elbow, treatment of base of thumb arthritis with trapeziectomy, treatment of upper limb fractures and fracture non-unions, deformity correction of fracture malunions, Platelet Rich Plasma injections.
