I have been a consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle since 2000 and at the Newcastle Nuffield. This followed training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Oxford and Birmingham. I am the medical retina lead providing a specialist medical retina service including retinal lasers, injections and imaging. I also perform a significant number of cataract operations. I am involved in clinic research and am currently the principle investigator on 7 trials looking at diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusions. I have published 15 academic papers in the last 3 years and am an international speaker at specialist ophthalmology meetings, including in Tokyo, Paris, in 2019.
