Mr James Kirkby-Bott

James trained as a thyroid, parathyroid, gallbladder, hernia and general surgeon internationally - London, Cambridge, Australia, France and now the south coast of Britain in Hampshire. The Royal Society of Medicine awarded James the coveted Norman Tanner Medal in Surgery. He is a Consultant level surgeon. His latest NHS Consultant level post was at University Hospital Southampton and now works privately out of Spire Southampton and Nuffield Health Wessex Mr Kirkby-Bott has been award Certificate of Excellence again. He was awarded the iWantGreatCare certificate of excellence for past 3 years for delivering outstanding care.

James specialised in Endocrine Surgery in London and Lille (France) to become an expert in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He has published many papers / books on endocrinology with endocrine surgery and has won prizes for endocrine surgery. He worked as a Consultant Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton where he treated urgent surgical conditions on the Acute Unit - particularly those with gallbladder pain and needing gallbladder removal and ran the thyroid and parathyroid surgery service. He has developed unique expertise in local anaesthetic hernia surgery for all patients including older and frailer patients which he applies to all inguinal hernias, femoral hernias, umbilical hernias & ventral hernias. Spigelian/lumbar hernias, and incisional hernias can be treated this way too on an individual basis. James performs both open and laparoscopic repairs and has substantial experience in treating recurrent and complex hernias.
