Mr James Barraclough

Mr Barraclough graduated from the University of Bristol and went on to complete his higher surgical training in Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) in the West Midlands. Mr Barraclough has further trained in Australia and New Zealand and completed his fellowship at Dunedin Southern District Hospital, New Zealand. He has worked as a Consultant at Whangarei Northern DHB Hospital, New Zealand and now holds substantive posts at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton and Russell's Hall Hospital, Dudley. He also likes keeping fit, going to the gym, listening to music and doing as many activities with his 2 young boys as possible!

As well as treating patients with the full range of ear, nose and throat conditions, Mr Barraclough has a special clinical interest in rhinology (conditions of the nose) and facial plastic surgery. This includes problems relating to the outside and inside of the nose such as a broken nose, sports and trauma related injuries to the nose, facial pain, sinusitis, nasal polyps, congestion and allergies. He also has a particular interest in caring for paediatric ENT patients, having spent a number of years training at Birmingham Childrens Hospital. This has provided him with advanced knowledge and skills in the management of children with specialised ENT conditions. He enjoys teaching at both undergraduate level as Undergraduate Lead for ENT and post graduate level as Assigned Educational Supervisor for the Registrars at New Cross Hospital. He is also a faculty member for Keele University Endoscopic Sinus Surgery courses.
