Mr Iain Chambers

I qualified from Aberdeen University Medical School in 1994 and pursued basic surgical training obtaining the higher degree of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999. I then undertook higher, specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics within the Northern Deanery, completing the higher degree of FRCS Trauma & Orth in 2006. Following this, I completed a year's Fellowship in 2007 at the University of Toronto, Canada, where I developed my skills in lower limb arthroplasty surgery including complex hip and knee replacements and revision hip replacements. Subsequently I  was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. I commenced my consultant post in North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust in 2007 where I have a busy NHS practice, operating on patients in Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby Hospitals. I see private patients at the Lindsey Suite (Scunthorpe and Goole clinics) and St Hugh's Hospital in Grimsby. My main interests are in trauma (particularly hip fractures and peri-prosthetic fractures), lower limb arthroplasty (including hip revisions) and training junior doctors. I have had research published concerning the longevity of hip replacements and also in the outcomes of hip fractures. I have been awarded two clinical excellence awards in recent years. I am currently trauma lead at the Scunthorpe site where I am the training representative for Higher Trainees in Orthopaedics and take part in their training and assessment at the Leeds Deanery. I also take part in the National Recruitment process for Higher Surgical Trainees in T&O. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and also enjoy long-distance hikes, woodworking, watercolour painting and home brewing.
