Mr Henry Atkinson

Henry was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at North Middlesex University Hospital in September 2009. He was the hospital Trauma Director until 2012, the Clinical Director for Surgery and Orthopaedics in 2015 and 2016, Clinical Director for Surgical Services 2016 and 2017, and then the Divisional Director for Surgery, Cancer and Associated Specialities between 2017 and 2019. He was also the Medical Advisory Committee Chairman at The Kings Oak and Cavell Hospitals between 2018 and 2021. He now holds several strategic roles within the North Central London ISC, and is the Clinical Chair at the Kings Oak and Cavell Hospitals. He was awarded an NHS Clinical Excellence Award in both 2012 and 2018 for the work he has done at North Middlesex Hospital (Clinical Excellence Awards are given to recognise and reward the exceptional contribution of NHS consultants, over and above that normally expected in a job, to the values and goals of the NHS and to patient care). He was listed in the Tatler Best Doctors Guide 2013, as one of Britain’s top 250 Doctors. He also achieved the “I Want Great Care” Certificate of Excellence in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Henry's NHS practice is based at London’s North Middlesex University Hospital, in partnership with the Royal Free Hospital. His clinical duties include the provision of All aspects of Knee Surgery, all aspects of Foot and Ankle Surgery, including minimally invasive bunion and re-do bunion surgery, Sports Injury Surgery, Knee Arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), Ankle Arthroscopy, Meniscus surgery, Meniscal repair, Meniscus Transplantation, Biological Reconstruction Surgery, Cartilage grafting surgery, Knee Osteotomy surgery, Knee and Ankle ligament and revision ligament reconstructions (eg. Anterior Cruciate Ligament ACL, Posterior Cruciate Ligament PCL, and Ankle lateral ligaments), Primary Hip and Knee Replacement surgery, Custom and Patient-Specific Hip and Knee Joint Replacements. Revision Hip and Knee Replacement surgery, Lower Limb Orthopaedic Trauma, Shockwave Therapy, PRP injections. As well as working in the NHS, Henry provides Orthopaedic Services in association with London Sports Orthopaedics (LSO) at London Bridge Hospital, Highgate Hospital, Hendon Hospital, Kings Oak/Cavell Hospital and Lyca Health. Henry also provides Medicolegal reporting and is a Director of Think Medicolegal Ltd.
